HARD yoga began first as a resource for Monica to share nutritional information to her students who desired a more sustainable path. Through Monica's HARD yoga's website, Monica was able to deliver information regarding big agriculture, hidden toxicity in food, ayurvedic and holistic options to traditional over the counter medications and so on. It was through this drive that Monica continued her education in nutrition and ayurveda while investigating and advancing in the various yoga teachings from the great masters of the past. Understanding the true teachings of the philosophies from the masters was always very intriguing. Today, modern day physical fitness has landed on top of yoga and it has lost most of the fundamental teachings. Yoga today is mainly for exercise and it ends there. Monica found this an obvious void in the true meaning of yoga.
When the local yoga studios no longer could provide a teaching platform, Monica developed HARD yoga, a studio that is more than a yoga studio, but rather a place where any person could come to investigate alternative methods of achieving and maintaining health and vibrance.
HARD yoga began out of the back of Monica's car and was located at a dance studio that she sub leased. Each day, Monica set up HARD yoga inside this dance studio until she could afford to also lease the location next door. Within 1 year, HARD yoga had grown and relocated to a 5,000 sq ft studio located just 2 miles from the original location now at 6781 Warner Ave in Huntington Beach.
HARD yoga offers a barre, pilates, aerial, and hot yoga studio and an enormous studio for the primary yoga philosophies and teachings. Hard yoga also has a childcare studio, retail store, custom made lounge, and nutritional and holistic healing studios. At HARD yoga, Monica is dedicated to provide only the most authentic yoga and exercise philosophies available and strives to create a "non corporate" environment. 'Once big business took over yoga in the West, the methodology changed.' Monica strives to hand down the original teachings from the original masters with a modern day, light hearted approach. At HARD yoga any person who desires a more sustainable path will find comfort, acceptance.
